MAUNA KEA, Hawaii — On Aug. 4-5, state wildlife officials will conduct an aerial hunt for feral goats and sheep within the Palila habitat of the Mauna kea Forest Reserve and Kaohe Game Management Area.

The hunt is mandated by a federal court order requiring the state to remove invasive species from the bird’s fragile habitat. Goats and sheep killed during the hunt will be given to the public
