Seattle’s Goat Justice League

Friday, July 17, 2009

Seattle resident Jennie Grant and her Goat Justice League have convinced the city to allow goats as pets in backyards.

Grant and her son, Spencer, formed the lobbying group two years ago so they could get milk from their own animals.

“I thought maybe I could make an argument that they were pets and not farm animals, even though I was milking them,” said Grant, who hopes her story can be used in other cities considering backyard goats.

There are an estimated 24 registered goats in Seattle now, including Snowflake and Brownie, Grant’s goats, shown here in this King 5 News video eating roses.
