Bermuda sells first goat milk

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Bermuda has joined the ranks of places with locally produced goat’s milk on the shelves. Gerry and Aletha Wilmot’s efforts to bring their milk to the public marketplace is told in this story from the Bermuda Sun.

The Wilmots raise several breeds of dairy goats and, with the help of a government grant that enabled them to purchase milking equipment, are now offering their milk in grocery stores.

“It’s a good thing for Bermuda – for our size and our environment and anyone who is concerned about our carbon footprint,” said Caroldey Douglas, an environmental technician who helped the Wilmots meet health certification.
