Fainting Goat Gelato

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Yalcin and Sevin Ataman, the owners of Fainting Goat Gelato, imported their gelato skill to Seattle from Turkey, where gelato was the family business.

In Turkey, gelato traditionally is made from goat milk. In Seattle, the Atamans use fresh organic goat and cow milk from local Washington dairies.

In this post, Cherie Picked — who worries the size of her rear-end could double eating the gelato — tells us more about the Atamans, their history and their plans for their shop.

Eds. Note: The Cree Indian prophecy from Cherie Picked’s blog is worth repeating here:

“Only after the last tree has been cut down, only after the last river has been poisoned, only after the last fish has been caught, only then will you find that money cannot be eaten.”
