Goats Discover Coffee

Saturday, August 29, 2009

An estimated 54 percent of all U.S. adults drink 3.3 cups of coffee daily and reportedly have goats to thank for the brew.

A legend from Yemen says a mystic saw a group of old goats leaping with exceptional vitality after eating a particular berry. The mystic tried the berries and got to feeling frisky, too.

An Arabian tale, “Kaldi and The Dancing Goats,” tells of a goat herder who watches his goats cavorting, samples the food they’ve been eating and he begins to frolic, too.

Kaldi tells local monks about his discovery, the monks turn the berries into a brew and mornings become much easier to deal with for everyone from then on.
