Butchering Goats

WALLER, Texas — Tim and LeAnne are raising 11 children and running a goat dairy. Her family recently killed a goat for their freezer, which she knows horrifies some people.

In this post, LeeAnne she talks about deciding to butcher the goat on the farm rather than take it to a stranger at an abattoir:

“He was put down without ever being handled roughly by strangers, never knowing fear or stress … in essence going from happy and here to gone with no unneeded pain or anxiety,” LeAnne said. “This, I can live with. Imagining the fear that would come with handling it another way I do not think I could tolerate.”
