Dairy Goat Chart

Thursday, September 3, 2009

Hobby Farms Magazine offers this PDF of a Dairy Goat Breed Information Chart by Sue Weaver, with everything you need to know including the fat content for each breed’s milk.

The Hobby Farms people dedicated their July/August 2009 issue to dairy-goat management from goat care to breed selection, and they’ve launched a new magazine called Urban Farm, which promises to “walk you down the path to homegrown food and greater sustainability.”

We all can get behind that!

  1. This chart on various dairy goats, while generally good, has a serious mistake. The Oberhasli is listed as a mini Nubian. I had to look at it several times to figure it out.

Hobby Farms dropped the ball on that one, didn’t they? So for future readers, the top chart showing full sized breeds lists mini-nubian with the characteristics of an Oberhasli. Mini-Nubian characteristics are listed correctly on the second chart.
