UPDATE: Fiber Farm has picked the winner of its Sand Creek run-in shed and some of their Angora goats.
===================

Fiber Farm is giving away a small hand-spinner’s flock of its award-winning Angora goats and a custom-made Sand Creek run-in shed to house them.

Those interested must submit an essay by Sept. 18. saying why they want to win this fabulous offering. The essay can contain photos and a video, but shepherdess Susan Gibbs mostly wants to hear why you want to want to raise Angora goats:

“Have you always wanted sheep or goats of your own,” she asks. “Do you yearn to set up your spinning wheel in the pasture amongst the goats? Tell me all about it.”

The winner will need to pick up the goats at Gibbs’ farm in New York’s Hudson Valley.

    hi, i wrote earlier today in response to the goat give away. i am hoping i did so in the correct place. it was on your blog. could you let me know if that is the right place to respond? i am very interested in the contest. also wondering if you sell any of your goats? i have been looking to start a small herd. i am in upstate new york so i could pick up if you have any you are needing to sell. i have a wonderful small farm 80 acres, chickens, ducks and dogs. a huge garden and no pesticides! 40 acres of hay and nice dry barns for the animals. i love to knit and my husbands family comes from a long line of yarn fiber shop owners in montana. i have been looking for the right animal to raise on the farm and i think the angora goat will be a perfect fit. i cannot think of anything better than to sit by the fireplace on cool fall evening knitting up yarn from your own animals. thanks kate
