Managing Herd Size
Mary Humphrey keeps some meat goats but most of her herd produces milk for her Goat’s Milk Soap business: Annie’s Goat Hill Farm.
Because Mary runs a tight ship, she’s strict with herself about the number of goats she can manage, parting with goats that don’t meet her criteria for a healthy, efficient, cost-saving operation.
“I have had to part with a few beautiful animals that showed a record of little or no milk,” Mary said in this post, where she gives us a few of her guidelines for managing herd size.
