Changing the Goat Bias

Thursday, December 24, 2009

It’s a story goat tenders are all too familiar with. You’ve carefully chosen your herd, thoughtfully bred them for quality meat or milk production and you’re ready to go to market.

Where is the market? The Filipovich family from Minnesota is very aware of the problem, and the problem is, most Americans don’t eat goat.

While other countries and cultures commonly eat goat meat and drink goat’s milk, the average American limits himself to goat’s milk cheese.

The Duluth News Tribune highlights this bias in a recent story More to goats than milk.

It’s our goal here at ATG to help change the mindset of meat eaters by encouraging the sampling of goat products and the continued use of goats as a healthy part of anyone’s diet.

Thanks to Duluth News Tribune for bringing it to the attention of the folks in their corner of Minnesota. Repeat after me: Goat is Good, Goat is Good.
