Philippines: Raising Boer Standards

Sunday, December 20, 2009

Major breeders of Boer goats in the Philippines are hoping to encourage the improvement of body size and meat quality by lowering the prices of Boer bucks for sale, reports Agriculture Business Week. While Alaminos Goat Farm normally offers bucks for P24,000 to P30,000 (roughly $515-643 US), owner Rene Almeda says he’s decided to reduce that price to between P12,000-15,000 ($257-322 US) in attempt to improve the standards of breeding stock. It looks like times are tough all over.
