Defining Meat Goats

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

The Best Article in the Net recently reprinted one of Ted Allen’s series of articles on goats. In Mr. Allen’s summary of what makes a good meat goat, he states three characteristics: adaptability, reproduction/growth and carcass value, as the defining traits of a quality meat goat. While any breed of goat can be butchered for meat, certain breeds are better suited to that purpose than others. Check out all of Mr. Allen’s articles for a good overview of goatdom.
