Goats as Educators

TUCSON, Ariz. — Sabino High School is supplementing books and standard classroom time with goats in its 2-year old agriscience program

The goats provide experience in kidding, breeding, socialization and animal health for students attending Pima Valley schools. The popular program, sponsored by the Joint Technological Education District, has grown from “a handful of students and two does” to an enrollment of around 70 and the introduction of offspring from the original does as well as several pygmy goats.
