Incarcerated Animals

Friday, January 15, 2010

The Daily Star recently reported that there are more than 4000 animals in the British prison system. Roughly 2,400 of the animals reside on farms held by the prison system.

The menagerie includes sheep, goats, cattle, donkeys, horses, chinchillas, tortoises, dragon lizards, hogs and multiple types of birds as well as other small animals. The 147 different species of critters are kept for job training purposes and to make life more bearable for inmates.
