Naimhe’s Nubian, Daisy, is the proud mama of triplets!

Daisy lost her kids last year when she delivered on the coldest day of the year, -26 Fahrenheit with the wind chill. This year she was attended by her human and had a relatively uneventful labor and delivery — although the third kid came as a surprise.

The buckling and two doelings are doing fine and precautions have been taken to keep them warm in the expected subzero overnight temps.

Daisy just wanted to brag.

This is great news. Congrats! I had a Ober doe who delivered twin does in the barn we were renting in 2009. I arrived the next morning to find both doeling had died during the night and were frozen to the cement floor. I had 6+ iches of shavings down but their dam had made a large whole and place both doelings into it. Even though the barn was heated to 35 degrees to keep the water pump from freezing, it was -40 degrees that evening and the barn floor was not properly insulated so poor darlings froze and their dam and I were both heartbroken by their loss. I took the other 6 kids born that January back to the house and bottle raised them all until they were at least 6 weeks old and could handle being inside the chilly barn. They all turned out wonderful and the other doeling are now two years old and expecting their first kids this March. Good Luck with your little ones. Annette, Lagasse Ridge Farm, Madawaska, ME
