PLEASANT POINT, New Zealand

Barry Wilson, a butcher in the southern Canterbury district, has jumped on the goat bandwagon. According to the Timaru Herald, he’s encouraging his customers and friends to add more goat meat to their diets.

“I had some friends around on Boxing Day and put one on the spit. I didn’t tell them it was goat until they’d eaten it,” he reports in a recent article. Wilson cites the reasonable cost of goat and its health benefits as reasons to put goat on the dinner table.

Wilson discovered a demand for goat meat when he added it to his shop’s offerings before Christmas.
