Goats: Poetic Wonders

Monday, February 8, 2010

Mexican writer Alberto Ruy Sanchez travels the world exploring other cultures and reveling in new experiences.

It was in Western Morocco near Mogador that he saw trees full of black spots that he imagined to be vultures.

“When we moved closer, our surprise grew larger than the trees when we realized (the vultures) were goats calmly chewing leaves of the branches.

“I pointed this out to a Moroccan next to me who asked me, aghast, where else goats were supposed to be?

“The goats gave me my poetics of wonder,” Sanchez told The Telegraph in India.
