Going Ag in Botswana

Friday, February 26, 2010

When Baleofhi Mabiletsa decided to make a change in careers, he didn’t expect to go from military boxing to raising livestock. But that’s just what he did.

Mabiletsa saved his money while in the military and ventured into small livestock rearing after winning some agricultural awards at trade fairs. With the funds he set back, he was able to finance his agricultural venture without any government assistance.

The boer goats and dorper sheep that Mabiletsa raises aren’t sold for slaughter. He sells his furry charges to others as breeding stock enabling other potential livestock tenders to get a start with healthy stock.
