Texas Man’s Life Dedicated to Goats
MENARD, Texas – Robert Kensing, seen here as a boys, today is 84 and still as connected to the world of goats as he was then.
Kensing and his wife of 63 years, Doris, raise cattle and Spanish goats with a four-pasture rotation program on 1,280 acres of grass, live oak and cedar, which the goats love to munch.
Kensing grew up with Angora goats and switched to Spanish goats in the 1970s when he bought 15 nannies and a billy. Today, the Kensings have one of the few purebred Spanish goat herds in the United States.
They keep their females but buy new sires to improve the herd and kidding time remains a thrill, Kensing told the San Angelo Standard-Times.
“We can’t wait for sunrise during January and February when we can go down to the barn and watch them take their first steps,” he said, noting “We love to be around animals. We take good care of them and they take care of us.

Yes I agree totally kidding time is great you just never get tired of it. It’s refreshing. I’m not as old as you nor have the experience. But i enjoyed your post. Thank you
