Aussie Shepherdess Surveys U.S. Scene

Friday, March 19, 2010

Chris Ferguson, a commercial meat goat producer from Myrnong Station, Australia, is in the United States on a Nuffield Farming scholarship, which promotes sustainable livestock practices in arid areas.

Ferguson and her husband, Duncan, have about 2,000 organically certified Kalahari Red cross rangeland breeding goats and also round up feral goats on rangeland in northwestern New South Wales, near Bourke.

In her blog Goat Catcher, Ferguson gives her impressions of goat operations in Pennsylvania and Tennesse before moving on later this year to Canada, Taiwan, Malaysia, China and India.
