Ontario Invests in Goat Dairy Expansion

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

ST-EUGENE, Canada — Ontario is investing $350,000 in the $1 million expansion of a goat dairy that’s grown from 20 goats to more than 3,000 since 1975.

The 500-acre family-owned Skotidakis Goat Farm is expanding its equipment to produce 30,000 cases of cream cheese bars and 21 million of liters of milk annually for major grocery chains in Ontario and Quebec.

The expansion will create 10 new jobs, boosting the dairy’s workforce to 55 employees, John Skotidakis told The Review.

“We’ve been hit hard by the economic breakdown and this is our way of bouncing back,” Skotidakis said. “I am optimistic about the future of our business.”
