Fire-Goats

KERN COUNTY, Cal.–

The latest additions to the fire department aren’t your usual firefighters; they’re a bit shorter, walk kind of funny and don’t shave. That’s because they’re goats.

The mixture of Boer and dairy breeds are helping out by creating fuel breaks, a job normally done through manual labor by the fire department. Plus the clearing done by goats is “green”.

KVUE TV also has a video of the munchers at work.
