Rabies Scare

ROUGEMONT, N.C.–

A recent rabies scare at the goat farm in North Carolina should serve as a good reminder that goats are not immune to the fatal and horrific disease.

A donkey at David Antigues’ dairy goat farm began showing symptoms of illness and it was determined that the animal had contracted rabies. David’s immediate concern became the goat milk products he markets and his goat herd.

While none of the goats contracted the disease, it’s good to remember that although rabies doesn’t rear its ugly head often in domestic animals these days, it’s still out there.
