Goat Racing

QUEENSLAND, Australia –

The annual Tree of Knowledge Festival is over but the memories remain. Memories of goat racing that is. Every May dozens of goats are entered to determine who is fleetest of hoof.

It may not be NASCAR but the prize money is nothing to laugh at and the training required to be a competitor is extensive. There’s even a DVD available for the goat racing fan.

Geoff Rafter, a racing goat trainer, offers some explanation about goat racing in this video. Goat racing has a long history in Australia, some of its history can be found in this 2008 article. For more on goat racing, check out the links here.
