CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –

There will soon be some new residents in the city of Charlottesville. In mid-August, the city council voted to allow residents ownership of miniature goats within city limits. The city already allows for chickens but prohibits larger livestock like cattle, hogs and sheep.

However, there are limitations. The goats must weigh less than 100 lbs, be dehorned and confined to the owner’s property. There is a three goat limit per household and all males must be wethered.
